In Georgia, since October 1, in order to reduce environmental pollution, the production, import and sale of oxodegradable plastic bags less than 15 microns thick are prohibited.


In particular, the new ban is defined by a technical regulation of the regulation rules for plastic, as well as biodegradable and compostable packages, which was approved by an order of the Government of Georgia.


According to the technical regulations, within the framework of the green economy and the new environmental policy, from April 1, 2019, production, import and sale of plastic bags of any thickness will be banned in Georgia.
